Co-Founder Edward Downey graduated from the University of Florida in 1981 with a degree in finance and thereafter received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida College of Law in 1984 and became a member of the Florida Bar. Edward currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Florida College of Law.
Edward and his wife Julie have four children, Ted, John, Meg, and Caroline. Each of Edward and Julie’s children attended the University of Florida. Son Ted has recently graduated from the University of Florida College of Law.
Edward Downey has an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell and is Board Certified in Wills, Trusts and Estates (by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization in Education). Edward is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, serving on its Fiduciary Litigation Committee (Chairman of the Ethics/Malpractice Sub-committee).
Edward is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, having served as president in 1999/2000. He is the past chairman of the Probate Litigation Committee of the Florida Bar’s Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section. Edward has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers for Estate and Trust Litigation. Edward continues to lecture frequently on probate litigation and probate administration topics, authoring a variety of materials over the years on the subjects for local and statewide bar associations.
Edward has been active in a number of local legal and community organizations, including serving on the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission (serving as chairman of the commission), Leadership Palm Beach County, and the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Palm Beach.
